Lesotho, officially the Kingdom of Lesotho (Sotho: Mmuso wa Lesotho, English: Kingdom of Lesotho), meaning “people who speak Sotho”, is a country in southern Africa and a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. Located in southeastern Africa, it is a landlocked country situated on the western slope of the Drakensberg Mountains at the eastern edge of the South African Plateau. Lesotho gained independence from the United Kingdom on October 4, 1966. Surrounded entirely by South Africa, it is known as an “enclave” and is the largest enclave country in the world.

On September 6, 2021, Ambassador Lei Kezhong met with Motsoahae Thomas Thabane, Deputy Prime Minister of Lesotho and Leader of the Democratic Congress Party, at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Lesotho.
Deputy Prime Minister Thabane once again congratulated the Communist Party of China on its 100th anniversary, highly appraised the great achievements made by the Chinese government and people, and believed that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China would create new glories on the new journey of modernization. China has long provided strong support and assistance to Lesotho in various fields. Especially since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, China has provided valuable assistance to Lesotho in various forms, including anti-epidemic materials and vaccines. Lesotho expressed deep gratitude for this and looked forward to further strengthening pragmatic cooperation with China in all fields to bring more benefits to the two peoples.
Ambassador Lei said that China-Lesotho relations are developing well with fruitful cooperation in various fields. After the common challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, the friendship between the two peoples has become stronger. China will always develop bilateral friendly relations with Lesotho in accordance with the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind and the principle of equality for all countries, large and small. It is willing to work together with the Lesotho government and all sectors of society to further strengthen anti-epidemic cooperation, help Lesotho’s economic recovery and people’s livelihood improvement, elevate bilateral relations to a higher level, and benefit the two countries and their peoples. In addition, the two sides also exchanged views on expanding pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.

The procurement requirement this time was a cargo lift, and I recommended the SS120/120 wire rope material hoist to them. After the other party communicated with the project leader in Lesotho many times, it was finally determined to purchase 10 sets of single-cage SS120 wire rope material hoists, delivered in 5 installments, 2 sets each time. They will first be shipped to Shanghai Port and then sent to Lesotho by container. Therefore, we quickly signed the contract and communicated on the delivery cycle, standards required for shipping, a series of equipment documents and procedures, and the arrival time at the port.
Export equipment accessories
Shipping began on April 11! Colleagues from the shipping department all joined in. Since the equipment was for export, the customer had special requirements, such as: the cage needed to be placed on a pallet, the standard sections needed to be wrapped in foam bags, accessories needed to be packed in wooden boxes, the large wheels on the top of the cage needed to be removed, and installation and disassembly videos needed to be filmed, etc. Our shipping department colleagues started preparing goods before dawn, carefully packing and shipping. It was completed in half a day—at lightning speed, that’s the efficiency we need!

This cooperation is just the beginning. Follow-up orders will be shipped in October and next year. Our cooperation has no end.
